SportyPal Events – New Feature Soon Available on SportyPal.com

September 26, 2012

This past month we’ve been busy working on our new web feature called SportyPal Events. So, what’s the idea behind it?

Well, you know how often you like to gather with your sport buddies and do a tour by bike, a hike on the nearby mountain or just a walk in the park. And, you have to tell them the time, the place, where you’ll be going, how long will it take and that can be very exhausting if told to 5 or more people. SportyPal Events will solve that.

You’ll be able to set a starting time, date, place and a map, invite your friends directly or by email. Even more, you can choose from existing tracks or workouts and set that as an event track.

SportyPal Events will be available on Monday, October 1st on SportyPal.com. Be sure to check it out.

SportyPal – No More Confusion with the Names

September 14, 2012

We have a saying that goes “The world is left in the hands of the young”, and in this case, it applies to our apps, too. The first edition of the SportyPal app will be “retired” in 30 days. To avoid confusion, until it is removed from the market, we will call it SportyPal Classic. We thank everyone who used it and gave us their feedback, since we used a lot from what’ve learned, into the development of SportyPal PRO.

And, about SportyPal PRO, there will be some changes here, too.

A lot of you got confused by the “PRO” suffix since it associates on an app that is pay only. That’s why we decided that we will be removing that from the name permanently – so SportyPal PRO will now become SportyPal. Only paying users will remain with the PRO suffix.

So, let me revise everything:

SportyPal Classic (first edition of SportyPal) – will be shut down in 30 days

SportyPal PRO – becomes SportyPal

Paying users that’ll buy the PRO features subscription  – will have SportyPal PRO

For a full list of features, you can always look here.

This is just a rename of the apps, the features won’t be changed. Actually we’ll be adding some new features very soon. Actually, the PRO users should check our latest update.

Thanks and enjoy your workouts with SportyPal 🙂

A thank you note!

Wow, what an amazing feedback!

It’s been few days  since we started selling the bike holder for the Xperia active, and the feedback has been amazing. I mean, I have to admit, we didn’t expect such demand for this product. People from every corner of the globe are placing orders, some places I didn’t know about until now. (a little hint: if you like to learn geography, create a product and sell it on the internet:)

Thanks everyone, we really appreciate it.

And we had our doubts.

The prototype for the holder was ready several months ago, but we were thinking a lot if we should engage into production. Being from Macedonia, it is hard to go on the global market due to the poor infrastructure. The costs involved were too high, the risks tremendous.  But if there is a will, there’s a way. After the great feedback we got and the continuous interest for the product, we decided that it is the right thing to do. Only you, our users can judge if did well.

Thanks again and hope you will have some great rides.

Sincerely,

Kiril

The new bike holder for the Xperia active

February 8, 2012

We have great news for the Xperia active users of SportyPal. We finally got the Xperia active bike holders out of production. We’re very satisfied with the quality and function, and we already have very positive reviews.

But let me give you a brief presentation:

The holder itself is very light weight, around 20 grams, but it will keep the phone steady in its place. We were really aiming towards minimalist design, because existing phone holders are too big and bulky, and that is one of the main reasons for people not using them a lot when biking.

Mounting is very easy and fast. Just put the zip ties through the holes, tighten them, and you’re ready to go. If you’re worried that the zip ties aren’t strong enough to hold the phone check out this video.

We had a lot of questions whether the holder can be mounted on the bike’s stem – and the answer is yes. Of course, the phone will be in landscape mode, but the SportyPal app has a landscape view, too:)

The bike holder will be available through the SportyPal Store very soon.

If you’ve visited sportypal.com lately, you may have noticed that a new SportyPal competition has started. Click the banner below to enter the competition:

SportyPal Summer Competition

We’re giving away 5 Sony Ericsson XP110 experience packs, 3 SE MW660 Stereo Bluetooth Wireless Headsets, and 10 one-year SportyPal Pro subscriptions. Once signed in, to get a chance to win one, all you have to do is make and upload workouts from now until September 21. Each public upload grants you competition tickets, and each ticket increases your chances of winning.

Some of you have been asking why you don’t seem to have any tickets, even though you’ve signed in and have been uploading workouts. For a workout to count towards your competition points, you need to set its visibility level to “Everyone”. Also, to prevent abuse, GPX uploads won’t get you any competition tickets.

To set the default visibility level for new workouts, go to My Profile -> Privacy options, select “Everyone” in the “My workouts can be seen by” box, and click the Save Preferences button.
