SportyPal Pro 1.5.5 for Android

June 27, 2011

A new update is now available for Android users. Here’s what we changed since version 1.5.1:

  • Voice notifications can now be customized. In the voice settings screen, you can now customize the voice notification message to include distance, time, speed, calories or heart rate. This feature is only available to users with an active trial or subscription.
  • The weather button finally works. You can now get your current local weather in SportyPal Pro, as well as a forecast for the next day.
  • Bluetooth headsets should work properly now.
  • If you’re still having music/voice issues with SportyPal Pro, there’s an option at the bottom of the voice settings screen to return it to the way it worked before 1.5 (plays notifications on the music stream so the music isn’t turned down while notifications are playing).
  • Fixed Hungarian translation.
  • Fixed a bug where the unit system switches in the settings screen would show the wrong settings.
  • Canceling workout sync at the last moment in a post-login sync no longer fails to close the login screen.
  • The workout ending flow has been changed slightly (the workout details screen now shows up right after the workout is saved, before uploading).
  • Map screen now shows “Avg. speed” for average speed instead of just “Speed”, which made it look the same as the current speed box.
  • Removed second heart icon from LiveView HR screen.
  • ANR fixes.
  • Crash fixes.

You can find SportyPal Pro by searching for it on the Android Market, or by scanning the QR code displayed here.

Note that if you are upgrading from a beta version of SportyPal Pro, you must first uninstall the previous version before installing this one.

SportyPal Pro 1.5.1 for Android

June 17, 2011

We had to roll out version 1.5.1 sooner that we intended to fix certain issues that appeared on some devices with the last update. Here’s what we changed since version 1.5:

  • Fixed the music/voice + headset issue. If you have a headset on, voice notifications will now play on the in call stream.
  • Support for Sony Ericsson LiveKey™.
  • LiveView now shows the heart rate zone bar. Heart rate has been moved to a separate LiveView screen that shows you your current and average heart rate as well as the zone bar.
  • Translation fixes.
  • Crash fixes.

You can find SportyPal Pro by searching for it on the Android Market, or by scanning the QR code displayed here.

Note that if you are upgrading from a beta version of SportyPal Pro, you must first uninstall the previous version before installing this one.

SportyPal Pro 1.5 for Android

June 15, 2011

Version 1.5 of SportyPal Pro is now available for Android users, mostly containing voice notification improvements. Here’s a list of changes that we made since version 1.4:

Voice notifications:

  • Voice settings have been moved to a separate screen to accommodate the new additions.
  • New pal notifications are now available (voice notify on workout start/end/pause/resume etc.).
  • Heart rate zone notifications let you know when your heart rate zone changes.
  • You now have the option to have your workout stats read out to you after the workout ends.
  • Music automatically turns down when a voice notification is playing. Voice notifications now use Android’s notification stream instead of the music stream. That means that notification volume now affects the voice notifications instead of media volume. You can now change the volume in the voice settings screen.
  • Multi-language voice notifications: if your TTS engine supports the language SportyPal Pro is currently in, the voice notifications will be in that language.
  • Will no longer misread meters as kilometers (or vice-versa, depending on your point of view) if voice notifications are set to time-based intervals and the unit system is metric.
  • Will no longer pronounce zeroes in pace notifications.
  • Fixed the missing average speed value bug.
  • “In” instead of “crossed for”.

Everything else:

  • You can now set up heart rate warning zones in the heart rate settings screen. You can set an upper and lower bpm limit and SportyPal Pro will beep when going over or under the limit (also, the heart rate box will turn red).
  • Languages can be switched manually, i.e. without changing your device’s locale. You can select a language in the Settings screen. Note that changing the language in SportyPal Pro will prevent it from following the device’s locale.
  • If you log in and you have an active subscription/trial, you will be prompted to download your workouts.
  • You can now pause/continue and end the workout using the menu in the map view.
  • Changed the climb/descent calculations a bit to match the online calculations more closely.
  • Changed the “Licence accepted/failed” text to “Subscription accepted/failed”.
  • Crash fixes.

You can find SportyPal Pro by searching for it on the Android Market, or by scanning the QR code displayed here.

Note that if you are upgrading from a beta version of SportyPal Pro, you must first uninstall the previous version before installing this one.

SportyPal Pro 1.4 for Android

June 3, 2011

Version 1.4 of SportyPal Pro for Android is finally available, adding ANT+ support and heart rate-based calorie counts, as well as calorie counts for most workout types without a heart rate monitor. Here’s a list of changes since version 1.3.6:

  • SportyPal Pro now supports ANT+ heart rate monitors. If you have an ANT+ heart rate monitor and your device has ANT+ support, then ANT+ will appear in the “Heart rate devices” list in the heart rate settings screen. You may need to install the ANT+ Radio Service for this to work (you will be prompted to do this if needed) .
  • SportyPal Pro will now calculate your calorie burn using your heart rate if most of your workout has heart rate data, regardless of workout type.
  • If heart rate is enabled on your device, you can click on the progress bar during a workout to view your current heart rate zone.
  • If you do not have a heart rate monitor, you will still get a calorie count for most workout types. The only types that will not display calorie counts are now Freestyle, Driving, Flying, Sailing, Golf and Paragliding.
  • The workout type selection menu should now work properly on most devices.
  • You can now long press on any item in the workouts list and get an option to upload all workouts that you have not uploaded so far.
  • Workouts started on a track will automatically display the map view when the workout starts.
  • The map view now allows you to click on the stats views to change them, just like in the main workout screen.
  • The stats views in the main workout screens can now be flipped freely, and there are new little dots in between to remind you that you can do this. The state of the stats views is now saved between workouts.
  • Improved position filtering to reduce GPS errors.
  • If you have Winamp installed and your device’s standard music player is unavailable, SportyPal Pro will start Winamp instead.
  • The workout details screen can now be viewed in landscape mode.
  • Heart rate settings screen is reachable from the settings screen now.
  • In the main screen menu, there is now an About option which allows you to see which version you’re running.
  • Birthday and gender are now saved properly when logging in.
  • The unit for pace in the workout details screen now displays correctly if the unit system is set to Imperial.
  • Fixed a bug where the workout screen would not close properly if a workout is uploaded and there is a new version of SportyPal Pro available.
  • Fixed a bug where disabling having either Facebook or Twitter (but not both) set to ask would result in not having the ask dialog appear.
  • The track details and goal screens now allow you to change the workout type by clicking on the type icon.
  • Heart rate monitor should reconnect faster if it drops the connection mid-workout.
  • New users will now have the E-mail field pre-filled with their Market account address (Android 2+).
  • Certain workouts containing invalid data will no longer hold up the workout sync process.
  • Track sync dialog looks prettier and should no longer be affected by the device going to sleep.
  • Removed the radio buttons from the sync selection dialog.
  • Live map’s initial state (Hybrid/Road) fixed.
  • Fixed a bug that would make the continue/pause icons in the workout screen appear faded if the menu is opened during the workout (does not affect small screen devices).
  • Icon is now transparent.
  • The default age for new users is now 30.
  • Voice notification fixes.
  • Translation fixes.
  • ANR fixes.
  • Crash fixes.
