SportyPal Pro 1.3.6 for Android

May 19, 2011

A minor update is now available for Android users. Here are the changes we made since 1.3.5:

  • The music player will now start properly for Samsung Fascinate users that have updated to Froyo.
  • Views in the Goal screen will no longer show decimal points if their values are over 1000. The size of the main numbers has also been reduced very slightly to reduce overlapping.
  • The pace setting for voice notification now works without having to switch back to speed view. Also, it should no longer read “zero second” instead of “zero seconds“.

You can find SportyPal Pro by searching for it on the Android Market, or by scanning the QR code displayed here.

Note that if you are upgrading from a beta version of SportyPal Pro, you must first uninstall the previous version before installing this one.

“Generic error: could not connect -1”

May 17, 2011

This error code usually appears on Symbian phones when trying to login/register or upload a workout using SportyPal.

Usually, getting this error means that the phone cannot find the way to access the Internet: Wi-Fi is not connected or configured, or the mobile Internet access point is incorrect or not configured.

If this is the case, to resolve this error, you will need to configure a your Wi-Fi or mobile access points. The mobile Internet access point can usually be configured by sending an SMS to a specific number to your mobile carrier to receive a configuration for mobile Internet.

SportyPal Pro 1.3.5 for Android

May 10, 2011

A new update is now available for Android users. Here are the changes we made since 1.3.4:

  • SportyPal Pro will no longer quit on the first login/registration attempt (only affects new installs).
  • You can no longer set up a calories-based goal if you have not entered your user info. Of course, you’d never be able to start the goal even if you could set it up…
  • Fixed a view more ways to circumvent the goal caps.
  • Lowered the Indoor/HR/Menu icons in landscape view to keep them from covering some of the plan data (does not affect small screens).
  • The ellipsis (…) no longer appears in the plan overview if your plan has more than three activity types.
  • Rotating in plan view no longer makes the plan disappear until you reload it.
  • Icons (back and sync/profile) in track list and settings screens now appear at the bottom of the screen in landscape mode.
  • Several crash fixes.

You can find SportyPal Pro by searching for it on the Android Market, or by scanning the QR code displayed here.

Note that if you are upgrading from a beta version of SportyPal Pro, you must first uninstall the previous version before installing this one.

Installing SportyPal on your BlackBerry

May 5, 2011

Some of you have been asking for instructions on how to install SportyPal on your BlackBerry. It can get a bit confusing if you’ve never done this sort of thing before. Here’s what we usually answer when asked for installation instructions:

By far the easiest way to install SportyPal on a BlackBerry would be to visit http://www.sportypal.com using your device’s browser and follow the instructions there to install SportyPal over the air.

If this is not an option, then you need to download the COD and ALX files for SportyPal from the SportyPal download page for BlackBerry. You can then install SportyPal using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. This link leads to a pretty useful guide on how to install anything on a BlackBerry. In this case, you should scroll down to the “Installing Third Party Software Via BlackBerry Desktop Manager” part.

That should be all the info you need to install SportyPal on your BlackBerry. If you feel that we’ve left something out of this guide or that a different set of steps apply to your BlackBerry model, please let us know.

If you have any comments or questions about the store, don’t hesitate to contact us (either on the forums or by using our support form).

SportyPal v2.2 released (Java and Blackberry)

May 3, 2011

Version 2.2 (Java/Blackberry) has been released. We bring some interesting new features such as track checkpoints, better progress indicator for tracks, improvement in the heart rate support (battery status, connection test), separate configurable workout start count-down (independent from auto-start) and various alert sounds (such as 3 beeps before workout start, beep on track checkpoint etc)

Changes:

  • Added: Track check-points icons.
  • Added: Matching the track check points in workouts. If check point is matched info audio signal is played and the track check point becomes green. If the track check point is missed for more than 50% the error signal is played and the check point become red.
  • Added: The track and its check points (green completed – yellow not completed) are shown in workout map.
  • Added: Now you can adjust the countdown timer. (min 10 sec). It is separate from auto-start, which means you can now have auto-start which starts immediately, or a countdown timer after “Pressto start”.
  • Added: Last 3 seconds of countdown have sound signals.
  • Added: Heart rate battery status. The red heart icon should now be filled with green as much as the battery of the HRM is full.
  • Optimization: No view updates while in workout if the application is in background. Should help save memory and cpu usage.
  • Fixed: Errors when clicking on empty lists.
  • Fixed: Smarter AutoPause: if the user pauses the workout manually, autopause will not auto resume – instead, an audio beep will signal.
  • Fixed: When an unsubscribed user tries to activate a subscription feature, the phone will check for subscription from web before asking about a trial
  • Fixed: Message dialogs should be easier to navigate with a keyboard.
  • Fixed: Sync already existing but updated track/workout should work correctly now.
  • Fixed: When auto-start is off, the manual start (play) button should work on phones with keyboards now.
  • Fixed: If the workout isn’t started and manual start is set, the stop button works as expected now (asks if you want to end).
  • Added: Synced workouts made on tracks are now properly displayed with their track if both the track and the workout are synced.
  • Fixed: When a new workout is started right-away after another, the old info (time, distance, pace ….) will be correctly reset to zero.
  • Changed: On keyboard phones, the slider pause button is replaced with simple (and more intuitive) pause icon button
  • Fixed: All workout lists should always be sorted now
  • Fixed: Buggy behavior when opening a track right after the track sync.
  • Fixed: Workout minimum heart rate is shown properly in the workout details view
  • Added: Test connection and check current heart rate & battery status in the heart rate tab (settings screen).
