Registration explained

After getting several e-mails and support requests from some of our newer users, we thought it would be a good idea to explain the registration process for everyone.

If you’re trying to use your device to register without registering on the site first, there are several possible scenarios:

  • If you enter a password you’ll be able to use the same password to log on to the site. Note that if the address is already registered with another password, you’ll get a “wrong password” message.
  • If you don’t enter a password one will be generated for you and you can use it to access the site. You will receive this password at the e-mail address that you registered. Note that if the address is already registered, you’ll get a “user already exists” message.
    Also, if you do not receive an e-mail containing a password, that means that you may not be able to receive automated e-mail from SportyPal. Please send an e-mail to support@sportypal.com to get a password if registration is otherwise successful.

If you already registered at the website, you still need to register your device (so that it knows that it’s authorized to send workouts in your name), which means that you need to say yes on the “Register this e-mail address?” dialog. In order for this to work, you must enter the password that you use to access the site.

You may also get an error message that isn’t about an existing user or a wrong password. This means that something went wrong with your Internet connection, and you should probably check you connection status and try again.

You will receive a “thank you” e-mail when you’ve registered your device successfully. If you do not receive an e-mail, that means that you probably entered a wrong e-mail address. Please make sure that you have entered the correct address, especially when registering your device.

Note that if you get an error message but also get a “thank you” e-mail, it’s probably the proxy bug. See the corresponding post for more details.

    Hi

    I am trying to register but can not get past the captcha words. each time i get a message that says something about a string truncuated. I would appreciate some help. many thanks

      Your nickname, first name or last name may be too long. Try again with something shorter.

      Also, try registering via the mobile app. That could help us diagnose the issue if it persists.
