A new update to SportyPal Pro for Android is now available in the Google Play Store, containing fixes for several issues present in the previous version, mostly related to the Indoor section:

  • Indoor graphs should work now.
  • Fixed Facebook/Twitter share crash on devices where Strict Mode is enabled.
  • Indoor workouts should load much faster now.
  • All graphs have generally been optimized.
  • Fixed some sensor data display issues during indoor workouts.

  • Tried to improve Bluetooth connectivity.
  • Tried to fix an issue where the cadence sensor would display obviously wrong (negative) values.
  • Fixed some inconsistencies regarding the music player (where the music player would start from one point in the application and refuse to start in another).
  • Fixed a bug where backing out of the indoor workout graphs would drop you to the workouts list instead of the workout details view.
  • Updated Chinese translation.
  • Crash fixes.

You can find SportyPal Pro by searching for it on Google Play, or by scanning the QR code displayed here.

Note that if you are upgrading from a beta version of SportyPal Pro, you must first uninstall the previous version before installing this one.

We’ve released a new version of SportyPal Pro for Android. It includes a couple of new features as well as fixes for several of the issues with the additions to the previous updates:

  • The Indoor section is finally operational again. Sensor integration is currently limited to heart rate monitors, but there’s more to come in future updates. Feel free to comment or suggest more stuff we can add here.
Note that the indoor section requires an active Pro subscription or trial.
  • Standard Android sharing is now available. In the workout details screen, push the menu button to share your workout via any application on your device that supports sharing.
  • If your workout has cadence data, you can now view the graph by zooming into one of the other graphs and scrolling until you get to it. Also, average cadence is displayed in the workout details screen.
  • Fixed several bike view issues:
The bike view should now be properly centered on all devices.
Keep screen on now works properly in bike view workouts.
Combined speed/cadence sensor now works in the bike view.
  • You can now offset a workout’s altitude after it’s been finished by pushing the menu button in the workout details screen.
  • Optimized graphs a bit (scrolling should be smoother).
  • Backing out of the workout screens now always shows the starting screen (to avoid the scenario where you can’t back out of the GPS searching screen).
  • The map view in the track details screen is now synchronized with the menu.
  • Fixed map orientation not being restored properly after the screen dies.
  • Fixed weather screen not showing the weather on some devices.
  • Fixed registration on leap days.
  • Crash fixes.
  • ANR fixes.

You can find SportyPal Pro by searching for it on the Android Market, or by scanning the QR code displayed here.

Note that if you are upgrading from a beta version of SportyPal Pro, you must first uninstall the previous version before installing this one.

Wow, what an amazing feedback!

It’s been few days  since we started selling the bike holder for the Xperia active, and the feedback has been amazing. I mean, I have to admit, we didn’t expect such demand for this product. People from every corner of the globe are placing orders, some places I didn’t know about until now. (a little hint: if you like to learn geography, create a product and sell it on the internet:)

Thanks everyone, we really appreciate it.

And we had our doubts.

The prototype for the holder was ready several months ago, but we were thinking a lot if we should engage into production. Being from Macedonia, it is hard to go on the global market due to the poor infrastructure. The costs involved were too high, the risks tremendous.  But if there is a will, there’s a way. After the great feedback we got and the continuous interest for the product, we decided that it is the right thing to do. Only you, our users can judge if did well.

Thanks again and hope you will have some great rides.

Sincerely,

Kiril

The new bike holder for the Xperia active

We have great news for the Xperia active users of SportyPal. We finally got the Xperia active bike holders out of production. We’re very satisfied with the quality and function, and we already have very positive reviews.

But let me give you a brief presentation:

The holder itself is very light weight, around 20 grams, but it will keep the phone steady in its place. We were really aiming towards minimalist design, because existing phone holders are too big and bulky, and that is one of the main reasons for people not using them a lot when biking.

Mounting is very easy and fast. Just put the zip ties through the holes, tighten them, and you’re ready to go. If you’re worried that the zip ties aren’t strong enough to hold the phone check out this video.

We had a lot of questions whether the holder can be mounted on the bike’s stem – and the answer is yes. Of course, the phone will be in landscape mode, but the SportyPal app has a landscape view, too:)

The bike holder will be available through the SportyPal Store very soon.

We’ve just released a quick update to address certain issues that have been reported to us regarding the previous update (1.8.3). Mainly, some folks were having trouble checking the combined speed/cadence ANT+ sensor, which has been fixed in 1.8.4. Also, we’ve fixed an issue that sometimes caused the goal setup screen to display zero values despite having stored the values from a previous goal-based workout.

You can find SportyPal Pro by searching for it on the Android Market, or by scanning the QR code displayed here.

Note that if you are upgrading from a beta version of SportyPal Pro, you must first uninstall the previous version before installing this one.

We’ve released a new update to SportyPal Pro. Here’s a list of changes since version 1.7.1:

  • SportyPal Pro can now be installed on devices running Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) and above. That includes Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0).
  • The Bike View (the workout view from SportyPal Bike) is now available. After enabling it in the Settings screen, select one of the biking activity types to use it instead of the standard view. This requires the Bike Addon, which is currently not available for Android devices (but will be made available soon). Enabling the Bike Addon now will prompt you for a trial request which you can use to try it out.
  • You can now use ANT+ speed, cadence, combined speed/cadence and strides sensors in SportyPal Pro. You can check and configure them in the Sensor setup screen in Settings. This also requires the Bike Addon.
  • Holding the bike activity icon in the main screen on a Sony Ericsson Xperia Active will display a bike mount placement guide for the upcoming SportyPal Bike Mount.
  • Starting from this version, you have to be logged in to use SportyPal Pro. You can also register a new account using only your e-mail address and password (you can fill in the rest later or not at all).
  • After sharing several workouts to Facebook, you will be prompted to Like the SportyPal Facebook page.
  • Fixed single-space name registration bug.
  • Changed profile editing validation message to be friendlier.
  • Fixed the speed unit in the goal setup screen.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the average speed in the goal setup screen to reset to 0.0 when you rotate the view.
  • Crash fixes.
  • Fixed an ANR that could occur when sharing a workout to Facebook via the workout details screen.

You can find SportyPal Pro by searching for it on the Android Market, or by scanning the QR code displayed here.

Note that if you are upgrading from a beta version of SportyPal Pro, you must first uninstall the previous version before installing this one.
